			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>Hana Lima Scholarship:</strong></p>
<p>The Hana Lima Scholarship provides financial assistance to students participating in a vocational or technical education program for occupations that can provide a &#8220;living wage.&#8221; This scholarship is available to students in vocational programs that lead to a specific segment of employment.</p>
<p>Students pursuing a major in Liberal Arts are not eligible for this scholarship as the Hana Lima Scholarship supports students who have declared and are committed to a specific program of study.</p>
<p>The Hana Lima Scholarship is a need-based award with preference given to non-traditional students: Single parents, disabled (meets ADA definition), houseless, sole-income providers, previously incarcerated and wards of the court.</p>
<p>The Hana Lima Scholarship Program is no longer accepting applications at this time for the Spring 2012 term. Students who have submitted a Hana Lima Scholarship application for the February 15, 2012 deadline will receive notification of their award status by mail within 4-6 weeks after the close of deadline date.</p>
<p>Award status will not be given over the phone. Please check our website for the next Hana Lima Scholarship application</p>
<p><em>Note: The maximum times any applicant may receive the Hana Lima Scholarship is twice during the course of their lifetime and <span style="text-decoration: underline;">must be</span> within the same vocational/technical training program for which the applicant received their first award.</em></p>

<p>Before you begin here are some hints for a successful application submittal:</p>
<ul>
<li>The online application will time-out after 45 minutes of inactivity.</li>
<li>Read the guidebook for significant changes this year.</li>
<li>Prepare your answers to the Personal Statement questions in a Word document, then cut and paste into the online application.</li>
<li>Start early and give yourself time to submit supplemental documents and recommendation writers ample time to write and submit their letters.</li>

<p>Applicants for this scholarship must meet the following eligibility requirements:</p>

<li>Be a Hawai&#8217;i resident</li>
<li>Be a full-time student (Exception: a non-traditional student enrolled half-time at a Hawai&#8217;i institution may be considered for funding. See non-traditional table)</li>
<li>Be a classified, degree-seeking student at a regional accredited educational institution in the United States as recognized by KS.</li>
<li>Have financial need as demonstrated by a completed College Scholarship Services CSS/PROFILE online application and KS recognized cost of attendance of your school.</li>
</ul>
<p>If you are a renewal applicant, one who received an award disbursement from the Nā Ho&#8217;okama a Pauahi scholarship in the 2011-2012 academic year, make sure that you have complied with all of the requirements listed in the <a href="http://apps.ksbe.edu/finaid/sites/apps.ksbe.edu.finaid/files/113AB_NHTermsandConditions(11-12)%20Website.pdf" target="_blank">2011-2012 Nā Ho&#8217;okama a Pauahi Terms and Conditions</a>.</p>

<p>Although financial need is the primary consideration in awarding this scholarship, KS also gives special consideration to applicants pursuing degrees in designated areas of study and to non-traditional students.</p>
<p><strong><a name="DESIGNATED_AREAS_OF_STUDY"></a>DESIGNATED AREAS OF STUDY</strong></p>
<p>KS considers all areas of study in its awarding process. However, special consideration is given to applicants pursuing degrees in designated areas of study identified by KS. These areas reflect job fields with high projected growth opportunities in Hawai&#8217;i and are reviewed annually and may change from year to year.</p>

<li>&#8216;Āina (land) and Natural Resources</li>
<li>Business and Finance</li>
<li>Community and Social Services</li>
<li>Computer Science (management information systems)</li>
<li>Construction</li>
<li>Education (with preference given to students pursuing degrees in early childhood education)</li>

<li>Hawaiian Studies</li>
<li>Healthcare (practitioners, technicians and allied support)</li>

<p><strong><a name="NON_TRADITIONAL_STUDENTS"></a>NON–TRADITIONAL STUDENTS</strong></p>

If there is a change in enrollment status, the original award amount may decrease, but will not increase.</p>

<p>Kamehameha Schools is a member of the College Board, a national, non-profit organization that helps students achieve college success. The College Board supports KS by allowing our scholarship applicants to access its College Scholarship Services (CSS) Financial Aid PROFILE system which determines a family’s estimated family contribution. KS uses this information in its decision-making process.</p>
<p><strong>CSS APPLICATION FEE &#8211; $25</strong></p>
<p>The CSS application fee covers your CSS/PROFILE online application $9 and $16 for sending your information to one college or scholarship program. There is a $16 charge for each additional college or program your information is sent.</p>
<p><strong>Payment Options</strong></p>
<p>The following payment methods for the CSS/PROFILE application are acceptable: Credit cards, debit cards or personal checks.</p>
<p>College Board Fee Waivers &#8211; a limited number of fee waivers are determined by the College Board to first-time college students for families with low income and limited assets.</p>

<p>These scholarships are made available by the generosity of private individuals and organizations who wish to reward students for a wide variety of accomplishments, including, but not limited to, academic achievement, service to the school and community, leadership ability, first-generation college-going, and specific major and career choices. Some take into consideration financial need and unique personal backgrounds. Availability of certain scholarships is dependent upon the availability of funds.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong><a title="Fred &amp; Annie Chan Tuition Scholarship" href="http://www.scribd.com/doc/83022119/Application-Fred-and-Annie-Chan-Scholarship-Rev01-Fillable" target="_blank">Fred and  Annie Chan Tuition Scholarship</a></strong> - $2000 ($1000 per semester) for tuition is available for the  academic year of 2012-2013.    The University of Hawaii – Department of Information and Computer Sciences invites all<br />
entering Freshmen planning to major in computer science to apply for the Fred and<br />
Annie Chan Tuition Scholarship.</p>
<p>The scholarship program covers two semesters of tuition up to $1000 per semester at the Manoa Campus.</p>
<p>The total amount will not exceed $2000.</p>
<p><strong>Objective:</strong><br />
The major objective of the program is to support incoming students who are interested<br />
in pursuing a research career in the field of information and computer science.<br />
Roles of Computer Science Faculty and Student Mentors:<br />
A computer science faculty will be assigned to each recipient. Graduate student and/or<br />
undergraduate student mentors may also be assigned to the recipient. Faculty and<br />
computer science student mentors will take the role as facilitators and answer questions<br />
the recipient may have.</p>
<blockquote><p><strong>Application Procedures:</strong><br />
• Applications and required documents must be postmarked no later than<br />
Wednesday, February 15, 2012. Any applications received with a postmark later<br />
than the given date will be rejected.<br />
• Only the first two complete applications from each high school will be accepted.<br />
• The student applicant must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 at the time of<br />
the application.<br />
• Applicants may be required to visit the University of Hawaii at Manoa for an<br />
interview before the selection date or other arrangements can be made at the<br />
discretion of the selection committee.<br />
o Selection will be based primarily on the two letters of recommendation, the<br />
applicant’s interview and the alignment of the student’s interest with an<br />
available faculty mentor.<br />
o Consideration may be given to other items in including the transcript.<br />
• All applicants will be contacted and notified of their status by March 31, 2012.<br />
• All recipients that are under the age of 18 are required to have a parent or<br />
guardian complete and sign the tuition scholarship application form.<br />
• Exceptions to the application process can be made at the discretion of the<br />
selection committee.<br />
Applications must include:<br />
• The completed scholarship application form.<br />
• One official high school transcripts mailed from the high school.<br />
• Two letters of recommendation preferably from a teacher or mentor.<br />
o The recommendation letter should not exceed 800 words, state the<br />
relationship between the writer and student, include the student’s activities<br />
in relation to computer science and have contact information of the writer<br />
Recommendation writers may be contacted by the selection committee.<br />
o Weblinks to the student’s computer science projects in the letter of<br />
recommendation may be viewed by the selection committee at their<br />
discretion.<br />
Qualification for the Tuition Waiver<br />
• The tuition scholarship will run through the Fall semester of 2012 and upon a<br />
positive evaluation by the faculty mentor and selection committee continue<br />
through the Spring semester of 2013.<br />
• The student must:<br />
o Be planning to major in ICS.<br />
o Take ICS 111 the first semester and ICS 211 in the second semester.<br />
o Obtain a B or better in both ICS 111 and ICS 211.<br />
o Maintain an overall GPA of at least 3.0.<br />
o Be a full-time student.<br />
o Disclosed any outside work to the student’s faculty mentor and the total<br />
hours cannot exceed 20 hours per week.<br />
o Should participate in scholarship activities including:<br />
 Meeting the faculty at a faculty meeting or similar event.<br />
 Meeting monthly with the faculty mentor.<br />
o Authorize the University of Hawaii at Manoa Information and Computer<br />
Sciences Department to publicize information about the recipient in<br />
relation to the tuition scholarship.<br />
• Disbursement of the tuition scholarship will be by semester, with the second<br />
semester amount contingent upon fulfilling the terms of the tuition scholarship<br />
assessed by the faculty mentor and selection committee.<br />
• Selection preference is given to Hawaii high school students entering UH at<br />
Manoa with some financial need.<br />
• Exceptions to the conditions can be made at the discretion of the selection<br />
committee.<br />

<p>Molokai Community Federal Credit Union is a federally insured financial institution, which has been awarding scholarships to high school graduates since 1984. This year&#8217;s scholarship will be $1000.00 each to two deserving graduating seniors, and will be presented at awards ceremony at the end of the school year. Business related fields are preferred but not necessary.</p>
<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Eligibility</strong></span>:</p>
<ul>
<li>Must be a graduating high school senior who is a resident of Molokai.</li>
<li>Must have a minimum 2.5 grade point average (cumulative of last seven semesters).</li>
<li>Show evidence of community service activity (volunteer work, helping others, community projects).</li>
<li>Student or parent/legal guardian must be a <span style="color: #ff0000;">member of the <strong>Molokai Community Federal Credit Union.</strong></span></li>
<li>Must be planning to  pursue a course of study as a full time student in the fall semester following graduation. Any accredited post-secondary institute is acceptable.</li>
<li>Financial need is not a criterion for this scholarship</li>
<li><strong>Must submit letter of acceptance prior to July 1st award will be made to alternate.</strong></li>
